You’re really going to have to be your own best friend on this one. The goal is within sight, and you can achieve a success if you are willing to see clearly. It is endurance and awareness that will now turn the tide. The effort required involves less physical action than it does spiritual understanding. Every step of the way may turn out differently than expected. But if you are open to the journey, you will ultimately be rewarded. Uranus and Ketu, the South Node, are presently separating from their conjunction. Yet, the influence is still in effect. Over the course of the next few…

The nurturing Cancer Moon makes trines to both Venus and Neptune today. A tender love affair could be enriching. It feels great to be in the company of someone who is loving, appreciative and generous. Finding love can also be easy under this influence, particularly for people born under the signs Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. Creative inspiration can also occur. Writing music, poetry and prose can be very rewarding. A vivid dream can provide a marvelous idea for a lovely work of art. Keep a notebook by the bed and record images upon awakening. Spiritual pursuits are also strongly favored.

Mars in Aries will feel too pushy for Moon in Cancer, but she’ll push back with a self-protective swipe. A volatile interplay of passionate jousting will be set up, because each partner is strong in the sign they rule (Mars rules Aries and the Moon rules Cancer). Mars in Aries is the warrior, driven by the desire to win. Making the first move, beating the competition and breaking new ground are expressions of his will. While sexual compatibility between two people will not guarantee a long-term relationship, it certainly plays a major role in what draws people — and keeps them — together. First of all, a word about Mercury retrograde. Yes, Mercury retrograde can mess up your communications and your short trips and your business dealings and such, but it’s not the end of the world. You can’t just go around blaming all of this week’s parade of (possibly) weird and unfulfilled urges on Mercury, even if it is conjunct the Sun and thus a little wonkier than usual. If you’re looking for the astrological culprit in your personal life (and your finances), this week we have Venus in Pisces, which starts on Tuesday. Pisces is considered to be the…

  • Astrotheme Untrustworthy for Birth Times?

    Chris Brennan
    28 Jan 2015 | 10:33 am
One of the challenges with western astrology is that it requires an accurate birth time in order to calculate a complete horoscope or birth chart for a person. Astrologers often like to use the charts of celebrities as examples in order to demonstrate various astrological techniques and concepts, since their lives tend to be so well-documented, and as a result of this celebrity birth times are often highly sought-after by astrologers. While the pros and cons of using celebrity birth charts are sometimes debated by astrologers, the practice is pervasive. Birth data collection itself becomes…

It has been 28 years now since the first UAC, and there have been several other successful conferences since then, so it is interesting to see how it all got started. The most interesting part is seeing what a lot of prominent astrologers looked like and were doing almost 30 years ago.

Let’s get the main point out of the way right from the start: Generally speaking, people who practice astrology prefer to be referred to as an astrologer, not an astrologist. In a long-range weather forecast posted last December 13th, I gave my take on the noteworthy weather that I thought would affect the East and West Coasts between the 19th and 25th of January. Let’s see what happened. East CoastMy forecast relied heavily on the October 23rd 2014 solar eclipse which was now being activated and previously had produced, according to astro-meteorology, a Nor’easter over the U.S. Northeast and New England. One scenario I suggested was a low pressure area over the Carolinas that would then strengthen and move northward to the Northeast and New England…

The conjunction of the Sun and Mercury has been observed by astro-meteorologists to excite wind velocities and cause atmospheric turbulence when these…

Mars square Saturn In a nutshell: I have been suboptimal lately. I had gotten used to feeling kind of awesome, so it’s a bummer. I think it comes down to 2 things: Awful astrology (a stress aspect between Mars and Saturn which strongly impacts my birth chart), and the brand of Adrenal Cortex Extract I’m taking. What I’m on now is cheap stuff from Swanson’s. It’s not helping as much as the pricier Everything Spectrum ACE that I was on for 4 months before. I am super fatigued and having trouble concentrating. So I ordered some more of the good stuff. It isn’t cheap, but $60…

Here it comes, my friends! Another long post about my health. A few readers have asked how I am doing since I first posted about my illness back in March. I am sorry I have not kept you all in the loop. This illness and its treatment are not part of the medical paradigm that most people are familiar with. Treatment is not what most of us are used to. It’s not prescription drugs, surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy. It’s not “do what the doctor says.” I have had to educate myself. As my own doctor, I am healing myself using food, supplements, and home remedies. There…

    Molly Gauthier
    23 Mar 2014 | 4:13 am
Poisoned. Poisoned!!! 30 years of being poisoned. And I was so poisoned that I didn’t recognize it even when the answer was right there in my face. I asked my mom to read the book in the 90s. I had read it, and it made a lot of sense. It’s All in Your Head by Hal Huggins. I was kind of hoping she would recognize the symptoms in me and offer to pay for me to have my fillings replaced with a new nontoxic material. To safely remove mercury amalgam fillings is expensive. The process of drilling releases a potentially crippling amount of mercury vapor into the air. So safe removal is…
  • Mars retrograde in Libra [4]

    Molly Gauthier
    21 Mar 2014 | 9:07 am
March 1 – May 18, 2014 Every 2 years, Mars appears to slow down in the sky, then move backwards for about 80 days. Mars by nature moves forward and takes action. That’s why Mars retrograde, when he appears not only to slow down and stop, but to move backwards, is so stressful. The Mars impulse is dampened, thwarted, forced to retreat. The one who initiates a conflict tends to lose when Mars is retrograde. Backfires, accidents, explosions, and injuries are more likely. Old arguments loop through our minds like bad pop songs. We are cranky, impatient, and easily frustrated. Projects…

I have told many clients about the “astrological midlife crisis” that happens to everyone around age 40 to 42 – Uranus opposes your natal Uranus, and Neptune squares your natal Neptune. 2013-2014 are my Neptune square Neptune years. The planet of dreams, illusions, spirituality and psychic sensitivity in the sky checks in with its location in my birth chart. The square angle between them points to difficult times, facing problems and obstacles. I already knew a lot about the Neptune square Neptune transit as I was going into it. I knew it would be time to look fear in the…

Am late posting these thanks to no internet but here's your horoscopes for January!! Happy New Year :) Aries 21st March – 20th April 2015 starts off with the planets in tense formation, suggesting something has to give, and it’s likely to be unexpected developments, with you at the heart of the action. You’re in a friendly, live and let live mood, and it’s difficult to shake that out of you, but perhaps even you’re shaken enough by events around the 5th (full moon time) in a way you can’t ignore or hide. Go with the flow from the 12th, (challenging around the 16th,…

Here we go, last one of the year... seasonal greetings to you and yours :) Aries21st March – 20th AprilBeginning of December includes a change of focus and new directions, especially linking to friendships, groups and gatherings (from the 4th). Then momentum and intensity builds for another major meeting between two big impact planets, Pluto and Uranus on the 15th. Since 2012 they have symbolised total transformation of self and circumstances, and this is the latest chapter; easy to see perhaps around new moon and solstice on the 21stwhen the most public side of your chart (career, status,…

Aries21st March – 20th AprilWhatever form events take during the first week of November there’s an underlying calmness or healing quality that promotes peace of mind. Around midmonth, particularly the 10th, there’s a potent and productive energy in situations linked to career, status and long-term aims. Renewal and rebirth are key words here; trust the process means trust the timing, and stay comfortable in the (temporary) unknown or uncertainty. An amazing new moon on the 22nd suggests new adventures and learning experiences are on the cards, so watch how circumstances seem to be…

The point of no return isn't the end of the story with Scorpio though, it means you're also renewing, rebirthing, and rising from the ashes restored and ready to roar. This eclipse is such an unusual planet set-up too. It doesn't happen often! What's happening is the sun starts its yearly journey through the sign of Scorpio and almost immediately its joined by the moon, which means it's a new moon at the beginning of the sun's journey - this doubles up…

    Demystifying the Aquarian Age

  • On the Threshold of Aquarius

    Terry MacKinnell
    3 Jan 2015 | 4:45 pm
If you have been following this blog you may be slightly confused by a statement suggesting that we are on the threshold of Aquarius when the Aquarian age arrived many centuries ago.  However since the arrival of the Aquarian age in 1433 AD, no period stronger than a 15 year Aquarius micro-age[1] has been encountered.  The last Aquarius micro-age was 1910-1925 with its overflow extending until 1940, and its momentum extending until 1945.  Therefore anyone born after the 2nd World War, which includes all Baby Boomers, has never encountered, nor experienced, a serious period of Aquarius. …

    Terry MacKinnell
    6 Nov 2014 | 7:02 pm
The astrological ages behave like mighty ocean waves. Each age-wave mimics each other age-wave, in shape, size and velocity, but the variation is in the archetypes associated with each wave.  Each wave brings a different set of archetypes with it.  The problem with astrological ages is that they are spaced around 2,150 years apart and very few people can contextualize a series of historical currents separated from each other by 2,150 years. Dividing an age into three equal parts creates age-decans with each age-decan in the order of around 700 years may be slightly more palatable, but the…

The recent flare up of Ebola in West Africa is obviously a cause of concern based purely on the media attention given to it, especially in cases that are appearing in Western nations.  The general public is already feeling highly vulnerable with the ISIS threat in Syria and Iraq and with firm memories of the recent GFC.  Astrology can provide insights into many situations, like a relatively accurate ‘weather report’. In this case, I am using the Ebola epidemic to demonstrate the efficacy of macro-astrology.[1]  Can the 2014 Ebola epidemic be linked to any of the sub-periods of the…

But the beauty of Facebook and similar sites is that they bring your entire social network together in one place. “Friend” someone and you can automatically follow the minutia of their daily lives without actually having to drop them an email or pick up the phone. Meanwhile, a project that had been hanging over my head for weeks was now leaning, hard, on my conscience. And forget about “Xmas” as well, warned an indignant friend who demanded we “keep Christ in Christmas!” (I refrained from pointing out that the “X” in Xmas actually stands for Christ, because when someone is perched atop that high of a horse, facts might unbalance them and cause a nasty spill.)…

Once, on a visit to New Zealand, I stepped outside on a cool, clear evening and looked up at the sky. What I saw made me a little dizzy: not just a thick blanket of stars, but constellations so different from the ones I’m used to! As an urban dweller, I had no idea that I’d become so familiar with the night sky – until I saw one that was utterly foreign. Sagittarius rules encounters with the unfamiliar. Some of them take us as far away as the other side of the world, where the sky is upside down. But simply traveling to an unfamiliar part of your own city will do the trick as well.

The show is all about working consciously with soul in day-to-day life and relaying to listeners how I do evolutionary astrology after years of tutoring by Ascended Master Djehuty and the souls of those who have crossed over. This week on the show, we’re going to take a look back into history and discuss how our astrological ancestors approached soul. Also, we’ll talk about Neptune. When I met Donna, she was…

I’ll also go through the natal houses to discuss what Pluto and Uranus in their 7 squares are challenging you to do. These 7 aspects exact between June of 2012 and March of 2015 bring up tension between the structures in your life and how you might be abdicating your power of free will (Pluto in Capricorn) and the need to be bold, free, original, and inventive so that you can…

On Wednesday’s The Soul’s Journey show, I explained the sources of the pain that inspire the anger of Islamic fundamentalists who opt for violence. The recent events in Paris have shaken that country and other Western countries, but we haven’t yet understood why all this is happening. We haven’t yet seen the bigger picture. Listen to the show until this Wednesday in iTunes and on my site. After that, it’ll be in the show archive, accessible through a yearly subscription to it and as a perk to subscribers to my monthly service. It’s imperative that we learn…

This 10-week phone/email course is designed to empower you to understand why your life has unfolded the way that it has. The logic of your mind has kept you perceiving painful scenarios as meaningful beyond the logic of your soul, gumming up your ability to see that you are Divine Intelligence incarnate. Every human is naturally intuitive, and so the process of teaching intuitive skills development is to teach you to remove and overcome blocks to this innate ability. The course is a tour of your chakras, which means that it’s a tour of your life history including family of origin. I…

Some thoughts as I process one level of Pluto on my IC squaring natal Venus-Pallas Athene in Libra/12th: We’re all looking for the Goddess. We seek to connect with the loving energy that inspires a sense of safety, peace, calm, beauty, and grace. We’ve been so cut off from her in so many ways for millennia, since we were inspired to shift the balance to the masculine side of things (channeled book, written book) to attempt to shape the world into what our personalities desired. When we make love with another, we’re looking for the Goddess. Either we seek her in another…

  • Mercury retrograde at the Aquarius New Moon, January 2015

    Lynn Hayes
    19 Jan 2015 | 9:12 am
Mercury turns retrograde on January 21st where it will encourage us to look back rather than forwards and see where we need to reflect, retreat, relax, or revise.  Mercury of course rules the mind and the way we communicate with others and generally process information, including the vehicles for that communication such as our technological devices and travel timetables. Mercury retrograde is a mainstream concept now and even the New York Times, which as recently as 2006 pooh-poohed the idea that a planet appearing to move backwards could be a real thing.  Times have changed, and I like…

Photo source: Yahoo News With Uranus, planet of radical behavior and revolution, in Aries, the sign that’s ruled by the God of War (Mars), it is not surprising that there has been an increase in global violence since Uranus entered that sign in 2010.  The square from Pluto (death and destruction) in Capricorn (political and financial structures) exacerbates this even more, and we are heading into the final phase of that cycle (see the sidebar for more information if this is new to you). In France over the past week there have been several attacks of religious extremists using terror…
  • Cancer Full Moon is a powerhouse of energy

    Lynn Hayes
    4 Jan 2015 | 5:23 am
In its own sign of Cancer the Full Moon is an emotional one – opening up the heart and requiring us to explore our own vulnerability. This particular lunation is powerful, with the Pluto (transformation) conjunct the Sun and opposing the Moon. Pluto encourages/forces us to go deep, beyond the superficial, and discover the treasure that lies there along with the ugly stuff that we prefer to keep hidden. Creating additional intensity is the square to Uranus which brings impatience and a potential for reckless behavior. The Sun is in Capricorn now, and this Full Moon asks us to find balance…

For many, the first day of a new year is a day like any other, and to think otherwise is just a trick of the calendar. But a magical life is filled with symbols and meaning, and the passage through the doorway into a new year can be filled with the magic of transformation. The Romans celebrated the first day of the year as a festival to Janus, their god of gates, doors, beginnings and endings. They named the month of January after him, and portrayed him with two faces: one looking back and one looking forward. Janus presided over transition from past to future, the passage from childhood to…

So my beloved and I have just enjoyed our seventh wedding anniversary. To celebrate, we went to see one of our favourite bands and the occasion was marked with a couple of intriguing coincidences. My husband discovered that a couple of his friends - a couple - were attending the gig so we arranged to meet for a drink beforehand and as soon as they walked through the door I realised I hadn’t seen one of them since our wedding. Then, when we arrived at the venue, I spotted a guy at the back of the room on his own looking a bit out of place. I looked and then I looked again. It was who I…

Jupiter in Leo is an important trigger, a crucial point in the Jupiter cycle for the modern history of Iraq and a transit to watch closely. Iraq is awash with Lion symbolism. The Desert Lion (Shakir Wahiyib, the public face of Islamic State); The Lion of Babylon (Iraqi tank used during the 1991 War); the other Lion of Babylon (representing the King of Babylon and depicted at the Ishtar Gate to the ancient city, now part of Iraq) and of course, the live lions Saddam Hussein kept at his palace. Also, it seems that Jupiter's transit of Leo is incredibly relevant to modern day…

February looks set to get off to a very spiritual start, as gentle Venus conjuncts Neptune in Pisces on the first day of the month. This is an inspirational aspect which speaks of devotion and compassion; unfortunately, as ever with Neptune, some signs, in particular the water signs, may head towards delusion instead. We’ll need to treat things with caution in these first few days, as not everything is as it seems. In fact, the whole of February’s first week has a theme of image versus reality. The Full Moon on February 3rd is in grandiose Leo, and on February 6th the Sun opposes…

Breaking promises can do great damage to professional prospects. Ambitious Mars also makes a sextile to determined Pluto today. This is a great time to work toward a career goal, break a bad habit or pursue a cherished dream. In addition, the expressive Sun forms a conjunction to mental Mercury. The restless Gemini Moon makes squares to both Mars and Neptune today. Think twice before pursuing a whim. What seems like a fantastic idea now might seem downright ridiculous in a few days. Continue to carry out routines and run errands, even when it becomes boring. There’s a great value in honoring commitments and showing up for work. Happily, the Moon also makes supportive angles to both Mercury and Uranus. It should be easy to come up with clever solutions to stubborn problems. Fixing broken appliances and resolving household dilemmas can provide profound satisfaction. A…

The restless Gemini Moon makes a square to luxurious Venus. Resist the urge to make expensive impulse purchases. The comfort such items afford will only be temporary. Saving up for something that provides long-term contentment is a good alternative to binge shopping. The Moon also forms an opposition to serious Saturn. Difficulties with authority figures could arise. When faced with problems, resist the urge to turn and run. Honoring commitments can bolster confidence and strengthen resolve. Stay focused on the long-term future. Troubles will come and go, but prolonged contentment can be…

The path toward our goals will continue to illuminate under the guide of that full moon light Every start to a new year seems to begin the same way. There’s usually a diet or new exercise routine involved. Then there’s the pledge to approach work in a more confident, productive way. Ultimately, it’s always about letting go of old, lame habits and ushering in new, more life-affirming ones that will make you and me the greatest version of ourselves that we can be. But if you’re like me, you may usually have trouble holding up to the commitments you’ve put on yourself, thus placing a…

    21 Nov 2014 | 8:17 pm
Every day is an opportunity to get closer to the truth. It’s time to get closer to the truth of who you are and what it is you exactly want out of this life. Sure, it’s easy to get caught up in the day to day. We have responsibilities to tackle. There are jobs to maintain and relationships to attend to. But we have to not lose sight of the greater picture. We did not sprout onto this earth so that we could simply “maintain” and “attend to” our lives. We have to see that we are here to get a sense of our greatness and to manifest from it.  Our goals should not be to…

When the Libra New Moon comes along and asks us all to attain some greater balance in our lives, I’m like, “Really bitch? How?” I write this to you at 11:11 pm, after a remarkably long day. Hell, it has been a remarkably long week. But it has been full of very rewarding activities. I’m helping to wrap up delivery on a feature film that will be released in less than a month. I am working on producing a short film that is shooting in less than three weeks. I am starting to get into early prep mode on a short that I wrote and plan to direct in December. I am working on blog posts. I am…

Paulo Coelho’s THE ALCHEMIST changed my life. I remember reading it for the first time in the late 90’s, when a friend gifted me a copy. The magical story of a young shepherd on a journey to discover his “Personal Legend” shook me at the core. It just happened to coincide with my own personal spiritual awakening, so it truly felt as if the book had fallen from the sky and into my lap for a deep meaningful reason. Since then, I have read the book too many times to count. I’ve listened to the audio book as read by Jeremy Irons twice. I even still have my original copy, with all of the…

This Virgo New Moon is one of healing Back in late April, I started this new exercise and diet regimen. Initially, I wanted to get myself into good shape for a destination wedding in Mexico. That wasn’t only to look and feel good on the beach, but also because I was officiating the ceremony and needed to look cute in my suit. So I ate and I worked out very strictly for six days a week and then allowed myself a cheat day on Sunday. Though the diet did help me in achieving my goals, it also created this really screwed up mentality. Since I had told myself that Sunday was my only day of food…

    30 Jan 2015 | 9:35 pm
The Hermit Today with Mars conjuncting Chiron you may taking an active part in retreating from all of the commotion that surrounds you and moving toward a place of meditation and quiet reflection. The Hermit card refers to the yearning for wisdom and knowledge that so many of us possess but so few of us take the time to seek out and develop. This Hermit — from the beautiful Light Grey Tarot — appears as an old wizard making his way under the cloak of darkness, with only his walking stick and lantern to light the way. An owl (representing wisdom) flies over his shoulder and the…

Five of Tulips You may be dealing with feelings of loneliness and isolation today. Like the poor little rabbit in this card — from the gorgeous Rabbit Tarot — you may have a hard time seeing what’s right in the world around you as you find yourself focusing on what’s wrong. The Five of Tulips (Cups in most decks) refers to feeling left out. You might feel like you’re all alone and haven’t got a friend in the world. Or you may feel like you’ve been dismissed by those you have. The Five of Tulips can indicate a sense of loss or disillusionment. A…

Penguin Today would be a good day to put all of your heavier thoughts and concerns aside and approach life with a sense of child-like wonder and curiosity.  The Seer of Shells  — or Penguin in the Animal Wisdom Tarot — is this deck’s version of the Page of Cups. Here we see him standing on a sparkling crystal ice cap, communing with a little fish that’s popped out of shell on an adjacent ice cap. The fish could be dinner for the Penguin but he doesn’t see him in that light. He gazes at him in awe, oblivious to his surroundings. This is very much like…

The Magician The Magician speaks of bringing your talents to the table and putting them to good use. What better card to describe today’s Uranus / Mercury conjunction than one that symbolizes the artful use of one’s own genius? Perhaps you have been looking for a job or thinking of changing your occupation and if so it would be wise for you to sit down and assess exactly what it is you can bring to the table of any new employer or occupation you are chasing up. This doesn’t need to be about you finding a job either it could be that you are thinking to expand your knowledge which…

The Star On the heels of yesterday’s Devil card, comes a reminder that even in our darkest hours there is still room for hope. There’s still compassion, redemption and the promise of salvation. The Star card — from Marie White’s stunning Mary-el Tarot — brings this reminder to life, with the Star taking an angelic form and spreading the love out over a sea of humanity. The angel figure in this card glides through, above and among an infinite crowd of nameless / faceless beings. She is above them and at one with them at the same time. A unicursal hexigram…

TarotJan 26Why Do We Use Tarot Card Spreads?Nearly all tarot readers use particular layouts or ‘spreads’. A spread is a pattern, similar to the way that playing cards are laid out in, say, a game of solitaire. Without the layout, the game wouldn’t work very well. Of course we don’t have to have a spread; the cards can be just turned over one by one and read right off the cuff. Many readers do that and wouldn’t be comfortable any other way. However, using spreads can add several extra dimensions to the reading. Share

Michael Reed Astrology - The Pulse of the Universe

  • Ardra 31st January, 2015 – Ultimate Reward

    Michael Reed
    30 Jan 2015 | 4:50 pm
You’re really going to have to be your own best friend on this one. The goal is within sight, and you can achieve a success if you are willing to see clearly. It is endurance and awareness that will now turn the tide. The effort required involves less physical action than it does spiritual understanding. Every step of the way may turn out differently than expected. But if you are open to the journey, you will ultimately be rewarded. Uranus and Ketu, the South Node, are presently separating from their conjunction. Yet, the influence is still in effect. Over the course of the next few…

    29 Jan 2015 | 4:14 pm
Over the course of the next few days leading up to the end of January, Venus will form a tense angle with Saturn whilst Mars will align harmoniously with Pluto. This coincides with a Sun-Mercury conjunction and an intensifying alignment between Saturn and Neptune. Where firm boundaries now need to be established, it is enough to firmly state your truth and stand in strength. Listening now will accomplish more than simply talking. Words can be misconstrued and as a result passions can run high!

Sometimes, we can get too intellectual for our own good. We over-analyse matters to the nth degree, thereby creating more problems than we do solutions. Everything may not be perfect at the moment. There is a nagging sense of incompletion. But, should you let that be a reason for not celebrating your victory. You have likely had a recent breakthrough. Focusing on the problem is not likely to produce the results that you seek. But, taking your mind off of all that is seemingly bad and instead directing your attention to what is good may help you much more than you can imagine! Uranus and Ketu,…

No need to beat yourself up over it or go over every aspect of your psyche with a fine tooth comb hoping to rid yourself of the spiritual lice. Fact is, there are no bugs in the system. Although you might think you are seeing the big picture, there is always something beyond your comprehension. So if you don’t like the ‘truth’ to which you are bearing witness, it might be a worthy undertaking to do a little bit of exploring. If you listen to the wisdom of your heart, it will inform you that you have been down this road before. You may have taken a wrong fork last time. But, you do not have to this time. An awakening is now beginning to transpire on the heels of the exactitude of the conjunction between Uranus and Ketu, the South Node. In addition, Mercury…
