  • Pluto and Me: the Two Great Invisibles

    Chirotic Journal
    Jem Neal
    21 Apr 2015 | 2:53 am
Today I want to discuss a couple of invisibles. Each has bearing upon the other and they’re inseparable. First of all, there’s the great blind spot of human (un)consciousness: subjectivity. This is almost impossible to fathom, not least because its frequency is considerably higher than reason. It’s the great conundrum of science and the reasoning mindset that it cannot attune to states of being that are in excess of itself. So science cannot get to grips with love – whether personal or altruistic – except to say something banal and senseless about chemical…

Aries Taurus Gemini Cancer Leo Virgo Libra Scorpio Sagittarius Capricorn Aquarius Pisces Aries The Full Moon rises in intense Scorpio on the 3rd, putting strain on a close relationship. Power struggles over money could break out. It may be best to maintain three bank accounts: Yours, Mine and Ours. That way, you can each have a measure of independence, even while sharing certain bills. If you’re single, you may have difficulty finding love. Preoccupation with your career could be driving romance from your door. If you really want romance in your life, it may be necessary to scale back on…

Flickr photo by badjonni via Creative Commons license Mars in Taurus’ slow pace will suit cautious Moon in Cancer, because she needs to feel safe before she opens up. Not only will Taurus give her plenty of time, but he’ll protect her once she does let him in. Both of these signs are concerned with comfort and security, so they can create a cozy relationship that’s akin to a neverending embrace. Mars in Taurus is not a fast mover, but once he does take action, he’s focused on building something that lasts. Everything he does is driven by the desire for stability, which…

The Sun enters Taurus this week. If you are a big fan of astrological symbolism, you might think that the Sun moving from Aries into Taurus means that things will be getting slower, more comfortable, and easier to deal with. However if you’re a big fan of both astrological symbolism AND observing actual human behavior, you’ll notice that many Tauruses are in fact maniacs at times. This week will provide evidence to support both perspectives. On the one hand, yes, the Sun in Taurus is an excellent time to start nurturing your projects and take it a little easy on yourself. On the…

Flickr photo by badjonni via Creative Commons license Mars in Taurus’ literal approach may seem a bit dull to Moon in Gemini. Airy Gemini needs to talk about her feelings, while Mars in Taurus prefers to let his physical presence speak for itself. However, it may be possible for these partners bridge earth and air, if other contacts in their charts are encouraging. Mars in Taurus lets his actions do the talking. Firmly rooted in his physical body, he expresses his attraction through sensual touch and practical effort. He sees no reason to clutter up the simplicity of his intentions with…

    23 Apr 2015 | 8:31 am
The full moon in Scorpio takes place in the late evening on May 3rd, at 13 degrees. As you can see from the picture, Jupiter is involved here. Looking at this, the first thing I think of is the impact on Aquarius. I associate Aquarius with humanity. This is a big deal! This energy should play in a positive way for the most part, thanks to Jupiter. However, you’ll read that Jupiter expands things. This is true. What will be expanded in this case, is the intensity. I also have to mention, the moon is not well-placed in Scorpio. It’s the sign of it’s fall. Personally, I like…

This week we get to slow down and smell the roses, and there’s even some levity to compensate for the unrelenting stress we’ve been under. 4 Jul 2014 | 7:53 am
The rise and rise of Rolf Harris was always somehow improbable, and though his fall has only just begun, it makes an excellent study of how easy it is to fall into the trap of misplaced self-belief. Many of my generation are reeling somewhat from the news that Rolf Harris, whose cheerful, positive and uplifting manner is somehow keyed into the DNA of our childhoods, has turned out to be a fake. And it’s not so much that he was just a fake, because fakery is commonplace, but rather that his deception was so singularly spectacular. One of the key lessons of a life of astrological study though…

With the inconjunct and semi-sextile, you have aspects that are vaguely out of tune with one another. Planets that are 150° apart are awkward, and whilst the aspect creates a desire for connection, there is an discomfort, and a vague clumsiness surrounding the association. They’re like strangers thrown together on a blind date, both hoping it will work out, but a little anxious and uneasy with the process. The semi-sextile is a little easier, it’s a superficially harmonious aspect that still suffers from some awkwardness because in both cases, these measures of astrological…

Dark, shadowy, little understood; the Hadeans, even under the most intense scrutiny, give away almost nothing of their true nature. Pluto, the best known of the Triumvirate of the Underworld, is so fundamentally dimensioned that despite countless studies and analyses, we cannot ever be sure if we have truly burrowed to his dark essence. Like the moles of his domain, we strain the blind senses to glean some of his hidden truth and esoteric meaning, but we are still never truly confident that we have understood. His magisterial shadows are too pitch. His seismic growl, too profound. This is the…

Just recently there has been a rash of investigative astrology in relation to the untimely and unfortunate death of Paul Walker, an actor I’d not heard of, but my interest was piqued because of the comparisons made between Walker and the iconic James Dean. This prompted me to revisit Dean’s grand travail, the impeccable exploration of youthful angst that is Rebel Without a Cause. Dean’s supremely dignified Saturn shines through, like a supernova beneath the waves, in His domicile, in His own house and it makes Dean resplendent and beautiful. What might he have become with…

St George was a Roman soldier revered by early Christians for his defence of their beliefs, and his eventual death because of it. As the St George stone rolled along it gathered mythology about dragons and stuff. That's all there is to tell really - so how about a look at another George, one who didn't

Here are the results of The Weather Alternative forecasts for March 2015. The first forecast period for March 11-14 zeroed in on the U.S. East Coast. I expected similar weather to that of November 17, 2014 when a strong winter storm brought a low pressure area and frigid winds to the Northeast and New England as well as low pressure systems from the Carolinas northward. Here are some of the weather headlines from that period. On the 13th, AccuWeather reported, "Northeast Storm to Raise Flooding Risk, Bring Wintry Travel." On the 14th, the National Weather Service warned, "Heavy Snow to…

There are some planetary alignments in March that have the potential to result in some interesting weather patterns. I'd like to comment on two periods in March. One affects the East Coast U.S. and the other the West Coast.March 11-14, 2015This period features the conjunction of Mars and Uranus, and the square of Mars and Pluto. These aspects by Mars serve to trigger the Uranus-Pluto square beforehand which is exact on the 16th. What makes this even more important is that the conjunction takes place on the degree of the previous lunar eclipse of October 8, 2014. Here is the astro-locality map…
  • Wet and Windy West Coast Results: January 2015

    The Weather Alternative
    1 Feb 2015 | 8:26 pm
My forecast for January 28-31, 2015 called for wet and windy West Coast weather for Washington, Oregon, and California. This was based on certain planetary alignments such as the Sun's conjunction to Mercury which excites wind velocities, and Venus' alignment with Saturn, which is known for heavy downfall. Both of these congregated over the West Coast as shown in the astro-locality map below. My idea was that these two alignments would work together, but in actuality the one seemed to block the other. The wet weather was experienced over the Southwestern states over Arizona, New Mexico, and…

    The Weather Alternative

In a long-range weather forecast posted last December 13th, I gave my take on the noteworthy weather that I thought would affect the East and West Coasts between the 19th and 25th of January. Let’s see what happened. East CoastMy forecast relied heavily on the October 23rd 2014 solar eclipse which was now being activated and previously had produced, according to astro-meteorology, a Nor’easter over the U.S. Northeast and New England. One scenario I suggested was a low pressure area over the Carolinas that would then strengthen and move northward to the Northeast and New England…

West Coast inhabitants should prepare for strong winds and heavy rain between the 28th and 31st of January. According to the long-range weather forecast method employed by Johannes Kepler, the 17th century mathematician, astronomer, and astrologer, the planetary alignments at the end of January spell weather woes for Washington, Oregon, and California. The forecast is based on alignments between the Sun and Mercury, as well as Venus and Saturn. The conjunction of the Sun and Mercury has been observed by astro-meteorologists to excite wind velocities and cause atmospheric turbulence when these…

This is a fun project, highly recommended for the New Moon in Aries! Which happens THIS Saturday, April 18, around 1 p.m. Mountain Time. You have two days after that moment to complete your treasure map. A treasure map is a simple glue-and-scissors collage like many of us did in grade school. It’s a tool to help you tap into your desires, what you really want, using the power of the Aries New Moon to turbo-charge your intentions for the future. This is my treasure map from 2010. I am sorry I have not kept you all in the loop. This illness and its treatment are not part of the medical paradigm that most people are familiar with. Treatment is not what most of us are used to. I was kind of hoping she would recognize the symptoms in me and offer to pay for me to have my fillings replaced with a new nontoxic material. To safely remove mercury amalgam fillings is expensive. The process of drilling releases a potentially crippling amount of mercury vapor into the air. So safe removal is…
  • Mars retrograde in Libra [4]

    Molly Gauthier
    21 Mar 2014 | 9:07 am
March 1 – May 18, 2014 Every 2 years, Mars appears to slow down in the sky, then move backwards for about 80 days. Mars by nature moves forward and takes action. That’s why Mars retrograde, when he appears not only to slow down and stop, but to move backwards, is so stressful. The Mars impulse is dampened, thwarted, forced to retreat. The one who initiates a conflict tends to lose when Mars is retrograde. Backfires, accidents, explosions, and injuries are more likely. Old arguments loop through our minds like bad pop songs. We are cranky, impatient, and easily frustrated. Projects…

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes. So with that in mind, here are some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....? I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth. Here are the lucky numbers for the week of April…

It shows the benefits of yoga and meditation and how goodness can expand in a corporation: A near-death experience led Aetna’s CEO to create a culture of yoga and meditation. Mark Bertolini was given last rites after skiing into a tree and falling 30 feet into a ravine. He survived, but no longer has use of his left arm, which he says still feels as if it’s being burned “with a torch all day long.” Unable to continue his daily jogging regimen, he turned to yoga and meditation. Aries21st March – 20th AprilA lunar eclipse on the 4th and a new moon on the 18th both focus on relationships, aims and ambitions, and most of all…you! It’s clear you’re still asking a lot from yourself (which is to ‘be the change you want to see’), so just keep getting out of your own way to find your own way forward. • New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Pisces, March 20th 2015

    19 Mar 2015 | 4:13 pm
To me a new moon and solar eclipse is a powerful symbol of union, blending and alignment - the sun and moon meeting together in the skies in perfectly balanced relationship. Pisces energy is about surrender; not in defeat or submission, but in the spiritual sense – or in other words, in the Beatles sense of ‘let it be’ or the ‘Frozen’ sense of ‘let it go’ – it’s surrender to who you really are, surrender to empowerment, recognising the inner spirit and soul energy, and going with the flow of life through you; allowing what is no longer you to dissolve and flow away. It's…

Not only is it number 7 of 7 in the mega Pluto/Uranus alignment, there’s a new moon eclipse just hours before the sun moves into your sign. Full moon on the 3rdgets you emotional over fun and friendship, then a rare line-up of planets in your spirituality chart makes quality ‘me’ time, meditation, and seclusion feel refreshing; as does going with the flow of events rather than fighting them (and see what comes of that around 18th/19th). There’s plenty of positive relationship stuff around the 20th; especially when…

Ryan moves through life quickly, precisely, and without hesitation. He wields the machete of professional job termination with efficiency and (at least superficial) kindness, and once he has finished a job, he doesn’t look back. When someone who doesn’t know anything about astrology wants to reference it in a “humorous” way, he might say something like, “My Moon is in Uranus.” (Astrological humor almost always includes Uranus.) That’s an objectionable sentence in many ways, but most importantly, it’s poor astrological grammar. Here’s why. Astrological Nouns When you learned grammar, you began with nouns. These were the words that did the heavy lifting, the people, places, and things that occupy space and perform actions, the grammatical rock stars around which the rest of the words in a…

They matched each room’s color scheme perfectly, and the effect of the flickering flames and soothing colors was lovely. But…

Last night in Vancouver, BC, I had the pleasure of channeling Ascended Master Djehuty (a.k.a. Thoth, St. Germain, Merlin) for a small group  on the theme of aligning mind, body, and heart to serve spiritual growth. If we approach spirituality without healing and aligning mind, body, and heart, he says, we miss an important evolutionary opportunity. In many of us, mind takes over with its control-based schemes and fears. In some, heart takes over and we feel without being grounded, leaving us prone to being puddles, emotionally speaking. If the body takes over, it’s a different kind of…

Source unknown Many people believe that meditation will bring peace and tranquility, and at a certain point, when we are freed from the distress of our discomfort, we do achieve the equanimity which many of us long for. When I began meditating many years ago I was taught that the mind and its thoughts and reactions was the source of all problems, and practicing meditation would free me of its influences.  I spent hours in sitting meditation, working hard to eliminate all thoughts.  I became very good at being numb, but I did not achieve inner peace.  The more numb I became to the…

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and the Aries New Moon occursin springtime when (in the northern hemisphere) new life is bursting out of every corner. The Aries New Moon gives us an opportunity to emerge from winter’s hibernation with new goals, new desires, a fresh new start. Under the Aries New Moon we can put all of the challenges of the past behind us and begin anew with all the innocence of a child but the power of an adult. A strong square aspect between Mars (aggression) and Jupiter (expansion) can enhance confidence but it can also raise tempers and create conflicts.  Mars…

Birthchart and personality analysis Since her appearance on the national political stage, there was no doubting the power of Hillary Clinton.
  • Blood Moon, Full Moon, Eclipse! April 4, 2015

    Lynn Hayes
    3 Apr 2015 | 3:12 pm
This eclipse is being called the “shortest lunar eclipse in a century,” but it is quite powerful astrologically since it triggers both Uranus (radical behavior) and Pluto (destruction and regeneration) in a very tight aspect from both the Sun and Moon.  The Sun aligns with Uranus, fostering rebellion and a desire to separate from anything which holds us back, and Uranus opposes the Moon which creates a restless need for something to change. (This eclipse falls on Passover and is called a Blood Moon which as a lunar tetrad is connected to Biblical prophecies about the fate of Israel.

Hello, I’m a natal Leo. My 12th house (with Saturn) and 1st House (ascendant conjunct Uranus, also in 1st house Neptune and Mars in Capricorn) They say that the Stellium in my 1st house can be eased through the planets ruling houses which are my 2nd house (aquarius intercepted) 3rd house Pisces (with Jupiter) and 4th house Aries. My 6th and 7th house are both duplicated in Gemini with no planets except Chiron in the 7th. My 8th house Cancer intercepts Leo (native) with my Sun and Moon both intercepted in this house. Sun and moon are both trining Uranus which conjuncts my ascendant. But…

At every new moon, I set my ten intentions, as suggested by American Astrologer Jan Spiller, within the first 8 hours (the most powerful) or within 48 hours (if it's more convenient).A new moon marks the start of a lunar cycle (symbolising the beginning of a new adventure), hence it's beneficial to make wishes/set intentions under a new moon.  So does that mean we can't make wishes at any other time?  Of course not.  It is only extra powerful to do so at the start of the lunar cycle.  Provided VOC Moon periods are avoided (when the moon is not making any major aspects…

(Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn)Aries is about getting a healthy dosage of self-confidence and motivation.  With the new moon ruler, Mars, in the steady and practical sign of Taurus (conjunct Mercury and trine Pluto), think carefully about your passion in life, and shed the old layer by layer (old thoughts/behaviour/attitudes).Think about what is of value to YOU?  What are you passionate about?  Is there something you would like to try but are too afraid to begin?

    18 Apr 2015 | 8:31 pm
Sun (ego, identity) joins Mercury (thoughts, communications) and Mars (energy, desire) in grounded Taurus on Monday, April 20. In the next four weeks, we’ll be led onto more stable terrains, where we can live a more appreciative and productive life. We’re attracting beauty and potential to build and manifest a better quality of living. As we rebuild foundation with […]

A bit of a cosmic tilt was experienced from last month’s energetic aspects of the Uranus/Pluto square and the solar/lunar eclipses. Mars also shifted from the fiery speed of Aries, into steady Taurus, which is currently encouraging patience, determination and real ‘oomph’ from our creative efforts. And as we pave strong, secure grounds to get where we’re going this time, we’re also restructuring our reality and moral standards into something durable with Saturn retrograde. When you are tough […]

Saturn retrograde. What we’ve consistently persisted in building and accomplishing, will slowly start to grow exhaustingly heavy with Saturn stationing retrograde on Saturday, March 14. Saturn is the great disciplinary for responsibily and inner strength, which is also connected with rules, duties, tradition, ties that bind, self-discipline, restrictions and consequences. Whatever we’ve been carrying to enforce conditions, will finally start to […]

Mercury (thoughts, communications, travel) recently joined Sun and Neptune in the imaginative realm of Pisces on Thursday March 12. During the next three weeks, there can be a hint of woozy/grogginess, dizzy confusion, as well as heightened sensitivity. We’re cosmically inspired to look for what we’re searching for, from a different view of our surroundings. During this changing cycle, vision can blur, as […]

Have you ever gone to a rock concert to see a super famous band in their prime? A concert where you spent half (or more) of your rent money and drove a gang of friends across the state? Gathering your friends, getting stuck in traffic, you were a bit late, missing the opening band. Did you care? You may have disregarded the opening band as you parked in the dirt lot a mile from the stadium, tucking your stadium contraband safely inside your sure-to-conceal special place. But what if later you discover that opening band is rocking like the headliner, is minutes away from fame and you may have…

If sports teams can trade players and players can change teams, why can’t states trade politicians? Take LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team. James played for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2003-2010 when he became what Wikipedia tells me is called a “free agent.” He was then able to negotiate a contract with any team in any state. Aren’t all basketball players free? Isn’t this the land of freedom? No time to study this right now, so let’s move on. As a “free agent,” James did what many a northern climate resident does –…

Disillusionment is rising within me like the high tide of an ocean. The bubble has burst. My eyes are clearing. As it passes, I begin the process of acceptance. All is not what is seems. Buddhism speaks of disillusionment as a good thing, seeing through the veil of illusion. According to the Art of Dharma site: This whole world is a trick. It’s a fantasy land, a place to get lost in and a place where there are tricks within tricks. Beings get fooled by these tricks all the time. If the world is a trick, what is the world’s greatest method to convey this trick but television?

    18 Apr 2015 | 1:10 pm
You’re reading this right now because the Universe wants me to send you a message It’s never too late to begin again. That’s what I tell myself constantly. When I’m beating myself up for not actualizing a dream I’ve had for months or even years, I gently cradle my inner child and say, “It’s never too late.” It’s never too late to start a new career. It’s never too late to meet the love of your life. It’s never too late to be creative. It’s never too late to be a parent. And it’s certainly never too late to let go of your past. The path toward our goals will continue to illuminate under the guide of that full moon light Every start to a new year seems to begin the same way. There’s usually a diet or new exercise routine involved. Then there’s the pledge to approach work in a more confident, productive way. Ultimately, it’s always about letting go of old, lame habits and ushering in new, more life-affirming ones that will make you and me the greatest version of ourselves that we can be. But if you’re like me, you may usually have trouble holding up to the commitments you’ve put on yourself, thus placing a…

Every day is an opportunity to get closer to the truth. It’s time to get closer to the truth of who you are and what it is you exactly want out of this life. Sure, it’s easy to get caught up in the day to day. We have responsibilities to tackle. There are jobs to maintain and relationships to attend to. But we have to not lose sight of the greater picture. We did not sprout onto this earth so that we could simply “maintain” and “attend to” our lives. We have to see that we are here to get a sense of our greatness and to manifest from it.  Our goals should not be to…

Paulo Coelho’s THE ALCHEMIST changed my life. I remember reading it for the first time in the late 90’s, when a friend gifted me a copy. The magical story of a young shepherd on a journey to discover his “Personal Legend” shook me at the core. It just happened to coincide with my own personal spiritual awakening, so it truly felt as if the book had fallen from the sky and into my lap for a deep meaningful reason. Since then, I have read the book too many times to count. I’ve listened to the audio book as read by Jeremy Irons twice. I even still have my original copy, with all of the…

Three of Cups With Venus sextiling Uranus today, it’s a good time to think about taking a break from work and responsibilities and focusing on socializing with friends and loved ones. The Three of Cups represents people gathering together to connect, interact and celebrate. It’s a happy, joyful energy that can manifest as a party or celebration, or it could be as simple as a girls night out. Either way it’s a time of merriment and gaiety. Four of Disks Today’s card — Four of Disks from the Tarot of the Holy Light — is all about holding onto what you have in order to preserve and protect it. This may be tied to money and possessions (as Pentacles are linked with the Earth archetype and therefore material mundane things), but it also extends to attitudes and belief systems. In the traditional Rider-Waite style cards a figure is usually seen holding on tightly to four gold coins, symbolizing both the desire to protect what he has and the inability to attain more. In this respect there are elements of…

The Sun card is all about happiness, optimism and vitality: being present in the moment and celebrating just being alive. Look around you and take notice of the blessings that surround you. Step away — at least mentally — and turn your attention away from work and mundane affairs long enough to soak in the energizing rays of the Sun. The Sun is a happy–go-lucky card that speaks of “seizing the day.” It encourages us to cast our worries aside and tap into the childlike wonder…

With Venus sextiling Jupiter and Mercury trining Pluto today, you should be able to tap into your own sacred space and regroup — even if just for a short while. It’s not surprising then that Buddhists and other spiritual teachers advocate mindfulness, or careful observation of our thinking, as a key path to greater wisdom and consciousness. So what is mindfulness? Teacher Jon Kabat-Zinn defines it as, “Paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.” This is easier…

There is just so much information, it can be hard to sort through it all! When it comes to explaining an interpretation to a client, it can be hard enough to find the appropriate lingo so the client understands what is being said. “Planets are what again?” Sometimes, the first hurdle is just finding a common language.
