Adventurous Jupiter makes a trine to impulsive Uranus today. An extraordinary opportunity to travel to an exotic land could occur quite suddenly. People born under the signs Aries, Leo and Sagittarius may especially benefit from long-distance travel. Bring an extra bag along to hold all the unique gifts and souvenirs that may be bought on this fabulous journey. Opportunities to exhibit unusual knowledge and brilliant ideas can also abound. Money can be earned through trivia contests. Writing an informative book about an esoteric subject is also possible. It’s a good time to put…

Wheel of Fortune Today you may be looking at the ups and downs in your life and thinking about how they’ve led you to where you are today. The Wheel of Fortune card is associated with fate, destiny, “karma,” life cycles and both good and bad luck. Sometimes we blame ourselves for the down times (assuming we’ve “brought it all on ourselves”) while viewing the up times as outside of our control. We all experience these up and down cycles — and we all try to maximize the former while minimizing the latter. But the Wheel of Fortune — this version from the beautiful Feng…

    Matthew Currie
    1 Mar 2015 | 1:00 am
There is a lot of good to be gained from this week’s aspects if you’re careful about your timing. Venus and Mars are still in Aries and still frisky, and Jupiter (which rules committed relationships) becomes a major player. If there’s anything about your love life that needs a little work, this could be the week to get it done. The most noteworthy planetary aspect is Jupiter trine Uranus, which (although exact on Tuesday) is in effect throughout the week. This combination makes for an unusually rare confluence of good fortune and good ideas. If you’ve got any major…

On this same day, Mercury will oppose Jupiter. You’ll have to reassure your children or romantic partner that your love will remain constant. A trine between generous Jupiter and spontaneous Uranus on the 3rd may bring exciting news about a grant, bank loan, or scholarship. Gracious Venus will make a trine to Jupiter in the 4th, possibly bringing news of an engagement,…

While it often takes a backseat to predictions of the Western zodiac — that which includes familiar signs like Taurus, Pisces, and Leo — the Chinese zodiac can be as influential and even more descriptive of human traits and actions. As we near February 19 and the Chinese New Year, it becomes time to reflect on the history of the Chinese zodiac and what the New Year may have in store for those interested in Eastern astrology. How the Chinese Calendar Works According to tradition, China began with the Yellow Emperor, who ascended the throne in 2697 B.C.E., which…

We’re scheduled to close on our new house in two weeks. Today, I hired a guy to come out and measure for carpet in this house. We’re going to have the carpet replaced as soon as we move, before listing the house for sale. We’re 80% packed. It occurred to me, this is the biggest thing I’ve done since I got married. I fared well with that – I’m optimistic about this.  But it made me think of how infrequently you make a decision this important in your lifetime.  Sometimes these decisions are made for you and this is where it’s gets interesting.

This blog was viewed about 7,100 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 6 trips to carry that many people. Click here to see the complete report.
  • A Funny Thing Happened in the 21st Century – Part 1

    Terry MacKinnell
    6 Nov 2014 | 7:02 pm
The astrological ages behave like mighty ocean waves. Each age-wave mimics each other age-wave, in shape, size and velocity, but the variation is in the archetypes associated with each wave.  Each wave brings a different set of archetypes with it.  The problem with astrological ages is that they are spaced around 2,150 years apart and very few people can contextualize a series of historical currents separated from each other by 2,150 years. Dividing an age into three equal parts creates age-decans with each age-decan in the order of around 700 years may be slightly more palatable, but the…

The recent flare up of Ebola in West Africa is obviously a cause of concern based purely on the media attention given to it, especially in cases that are appearing in Western nations.  The general public is already feeling highly vulnerable with the ISIS threat in Syria and Iraq and with firm memories of the recent GFC.  Astrology can provide insights into many situations, like a relatively accurate ‘weather report’. In this case, I am using the Ebola epidemic to demonstrate the efficacy of macro-astrology.[1]  Can the 2014 Ebola epidemic be linked to any of the sub-periods of the…

“We are in a time of great transition on whatever level you want to view it. … From January 2008 through March 16, 2015, the period known as “The Cardinal Climax” unfolded, in which Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto all moved into a hard aspect with one another, and mostly from within cardinal signs. The last time that happened was 1928-1934. Thus, this “7-Years of Tribulation” (actually 7 years, 2 months) comes to an end in one month.” — Ray Merriman in The Merriman Market Analyst To read the rest of this snappy astrological overview of our times, click here and…

The Moon is especially strong in Taurus, and I like the sign a lot. But I haven’t particularly enjoyed having my Progressed Moon here, and I’m looking forward to the greener pastures of Gemini and my 7th house, where my natal Moon has enjoyed itself for years. The Progressed Moon in the sign behind your natal Moon sign is more or less a Balsmic Moon time. But put the Progressed Moon in the diligent,…

Transiting Venus and Mars entered Aries last week, and over the past couple of days they made trines to Saturn in Sagittarius. Normally a deliberate and focused worker (with no Aries planets in my birth chart), I’ve had a devil of a time settling down and getting anything done. About all I’ve got to show for my flailing efforts is a stack of printouts, notebooks, and folders, the detritus of a half-dozen projects, taking over one side of my desk. An Aquarian client with a Pisces Moon describes her current situation as living in limbo, poised between two radically different lives, with one foot in each and an ass that’s still very much on the fence. She’s drawn to a new life, but committing to it means losing everything she has; remaining in the old one makes every kind of sense intellectually, but is emotionally untenable. There is little point trying to offer advice to someone in such a situation. It would be like telling a mouse that it needs to make a decision about whether to leave its trap. This New Moon falls at the…

I began my life as a musician at the age of 12, singing with my cousin. I was a shy little Leo; she was a slightly older, brash and unafraid one, with a full-throttled voice. It felt natural to let her take the lead, while I mastered harmony. Harmonizing came so naturally that it never occurred to me to wonder why I felt so much more comfortable singing counterpoint to someone else’s melody. Soon enough, my cousin lost interest in performing. She didn’t need a stage; her personality and charisma were so big that she commanded attention simply by walking in a room. She would never be a…

Grammar purist that I am, I never thought I’d see the day when I would use “friend” as a verb. Then Facebook came into my life. The downside of social media is not insignificant. But the beauty of Facebook and similar sites is that they bring your entire social network together in one place. “Friend” someone and you can automatically follow the minutia of their daily lives without actually having to drop them an email or pick up the phone. It’s pretty great, because while you may not have enough in common with someone from third grade to justify an ongoing…

    Lynn Hayes
    19 Feb 2015 | 5:15 am
In response to a few questions I had from readers after other astrologers wrote about the New Moon being in Pisces, I thought it would be useful to discuss the idea of the “cusp.”  This is one of those concepts about which you can read a myriad of different opinions from very reputable astrologers. The cusp idea comes mainly from the popular world of “sun sign astrology.”  Since the Sun doesn’t move from one sign to another on the same day every year in order to give readers an idea of which sign their birthdate fell in there was a need to find a way to…

If you know the artist who created this work please let me know!!  The Aquarius New Moon on the 18th takes place at the 29th degree of Aquarius just a few minutes before the Sun enters Pisces. Aquarius is symbolized by the “water bearer,” but Aquarius has nothing to do with the watery realm of emotion.  Rather, it symbolizes the cleansing effect of water which purify and cleanse every aspect of human existence so that it can be illuminated and refreshed. This is the second of two New Moons in Aquarius: the first one was at the first degree of Aquarius and this one is at the…
  • The rise of militant atheism under Saturn in Sagittarius

    Lynn Hayes
    17 Feb 2015 | 6:10 am
From an astrological perspective, religion is a shared belief system and symbolized by Jupiter and Sagittarius.  A belief system is a collection of ideas that help us to find meaning in our lives.  When we find a group that shares our belief system, this becomes a religion.  From an astrological viewpoint, religion is a collection of small “t” truths – a truth that we create for ourselves. From this perspective, atheism is just as much a shared belief system as any of the other religions that give meaning to the lives of humans – and the attempt to impose an…

Eris There is an incredible synchronicity between the events around a planet’s discovery and world events that occur around that time.  Uranus, planet of revolution, was discovered in 1781, concurrent with revolutionary activity in the fledgling United States, in Haiti, in France, and the Industrial revolution in Britain.  Neptune’s discovery in 1846 witnessed the rise of spiritualism, seances and a more spiritual approach to religion (all aspects of Neptune). The planet Eris was discovered in 2006 and named after the Goddess of Discord.  In mythology Eris, hurt because she…

    Joyce Mason
    26 Feb 2015 | 11:48 pm
Article © 2015 by Joyce Mason According to WiseGEEK,the Hydra or Lernaean Hydra was a many headed monster in Greek mythology. Hydra terrorized visitors near the Lake of Lerna in classic Greece. This region of springs and a former lake was located near the east cost of the Peloponnesus, and its site became the famous lair of the horrendous water snake. It was an arrow dipped with her poison blood that led to Chiron’s incurable wound. Everything in a mythical story is symbolic, and I had a light bulb moment about Hydra’s meaning that made me want to explore her further and share it with…

Hello just found a software were I am working on some natal charts. The name is “uastrolog”. It include uranians and has two section: planetary “power” expressed in percentage including aspect, parallels and strenght in the sign. And “dominance” which seems to include mostly the angularity. I would like to know if you had some experience with such a software. For Power, my most powerful planets are Pluto, North Node, Mars and Sun, which ,as a man, I like^^. For dominance Mars and Moon are sharing “dominance” (with Admetos). So if someone as a guess about the subtle nuance…

The playful Leo Moon forms trines to Venus, Mars and Saturn today. This will be a rare opportunity to combine business with pleasure. Going on a trip for work could allow you to visit a city’s excellent museums, shops and restaurants. Resist the temptation to go straight from work to an anonymous hotel. Getting a change of scenery may be very stimulating. Branch out a bit. The Moon also forms a conjunction to fun-loving Jupiter, favoring educational pursuits. Reading a challenging book is strongly advised. Getting an intellectual workout can cultivate optimism and excitement. It can…

Clever Mercury makes a sextile to offbeat Uranus today. Brilliant ideas can occur quite suddenly. When faced with stubborn problems, do some routine work. An amazing solution may occur while doing laundry, chopping vegetables or scrubbing the floor. When the conscious mind is preoccupied, it gives the imagination a chance to soar. Additionally, an opposition between Mercury and Jupiter warns against making travel arrangements. It may be best to wait a few days before purchasing plane tickets or reserving a hotel room. Last-minute changes have a way of undermining carefully laid plans, but it…

Generous Jupiter forms a trine to unusual Uranus, paving the way for unusual travel opportunities. Alluring Venus makes favorable aspects to both Jupiter and Uranus, making it easy to find love in unusual places. A square between Venus and Pluto can create power struggles over money. The Full Moon in Virgo may bring a satisfying conclusion to a work assignment. The expressive Sun’s sextile to therapeutic…

The suffocating Cancer Moon makes harsh aspects to both Uranus and Pluto today. It may not be possible to protect loved ones from danger. Instead of coming to a relative’s rescue, allow them to solve their own problems. Show faith in family members. Encouraging self-reliance can make the whole stronger. It may be difficult to get time off work, particularly for Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. Staffing shortages could make authority figures anxious. Wait for a quiet, relaxed time to ask for favors. Choosing the right moment can make the difference between failure and victory. Tune in…

    2 Mar 2015 | 8:20 pm
I still remember in my early days as an astrology student, I would dread meeting Scorpios.  Yes, I was influenced by the old school way of looking at this 8th sign of the zodiac - they are deep, dark and dangerous!  Looking back, it's not all wrong, as meeting those Scorpions merely was a projection of my disowned 8th house stellium......Having undergone my Pluto transit to my Sun for the past 18 months (and still going!), I have learned to embrace the Scorpion qualities.  Liz Greene and Howard Sasportas mention in one of their CPA books (sorry, can't remember which one now...)…

The moon transits each sign for 2.5 days so it goes around the chart once a month.  I've noticed that Moon in Aries puts me in an uplifting mood, as it also conjuncts my natal Mercury. Moon in Taurus used to make me binge eat, but since becoming consciously aware of this behaviour, I've been able to actively control this indulgence.I used to dread the lunar goddess transiting my 12th house as it would really drag down my mood.  Since my acquaintance with family constellation though, I've noticed the moon doesn't stir up my hidden emotions as much as before - probably because I've…

In the mid 1990s I had a male boss who was neat and tidy. I asked him if he was always that way. “Yes,” he replied. “My mom raised me right.” While I had meant it as a compliment, I was still struck by his comment that his mom “raised him right.” That meant that being neat and tidy was a virtue. By the mid 1990s, being neat and tidy had transformed from a virtue into a negative quality called “anal retentive.” What was a virtue was now a flaw in one’s personality. I didn’t tell my boss. Just a week before Saturn transited from Scorpio into Sagittarius last December, President Obama announced the normalization of relations with Cuba. Fidel Castro took power in Cuba in 1959 and in 1961, the US ceased relations. That was over 53 years ago. Castro is still alive (I think) and has lived through 11 presidents. For those on a mission to end Communism in Cuba and see Fidel Castro’s humiliation and demise, the cause is officially over (although normalizing relations may have just that effect). If you spent 53 years on a mission to overthrow Castro, what do you do now? In her…

An old chapter comes to a close, and a new one begins! One in which the hero/heroine is liberated! Profound change is on offer in March as Pluto and Uranus complete their last tense aspect in a series dating back several years. First Venus will cross the plane of this tense aspect in close proximity to a Full Moon. This coincides with a harmonious alignment between Jupiter and Uranus. Then mid-month, Mars will also cross the plane of the Pluto-Uranus square just days before its exactitude. This is followed by a Solar Eclipse in Pisces on the 20th. Powerful times ahead!

And where emotions may be involved, the input of the senses is not crystal clear. Re-align with your intention. Put your fears to one side. For they are only that, real as they may seem. Remember the lessons of the past and don’t give in to the temptation to take rash action! Between now and 3rd March, Jupiter and Uranus will be intensifying their harmonious aspect. It’s good that things have been static in a certain area. There has been a missing piece of…
