A few days ago, my elbow blew up. It swelled like a balloon for no particular reason. I then took something from the freezer and my fingertips turned bright red. I didn’t hold the thing for long. I was surprised. Where does this come from?  Change of seasons?  I’ve not been particularly stressed. Various symptoms flared up. I became exhausted and last night I figured out why. I was taking my meds and noticed there was no Plaquenil. I take Plaquenil (and a Naproxen) twice a day. Apparently, I left the pill out of the evening slot in the pill case. I just wasn’t…

When you get right down to it, how your life runs boils down to a series of judgement calls on your part. I think that’s a good thing overall — it implies a certain degree of Free Will. But there are some weeks when the choices are clearer than others, and there are weeks when your brain is fuzzier than usual. Unfortunately, this week’s astrological happenings set up some circumstances which might make your judgement seem a bit out to lunch… and it might be just a little more important to pay attention to the cosmic forces at work around you and heed their warnings (or…

Friday night boasts a Jupiter-Sun, Gemini Moon, Neptune t-square, indicating hopped up stress on the squirrel-wheeled mood. However, with Jupiter, the Sun, and the Moon in Mercury-ruled signs, the Moon trine Mercury, and Jupiter being Jupiter, I’d be more inclined to call it jittery and jabbery over mayhem and stabby. Add in Neptune and Pisces and I’d say a booze-fueled rant is likely all over the place. Lube your lips, not your liver if at all possible/palatable. The author, my dear friend Rachel, draws on her training in architecture, as well as her own research, field work in archaeology and work in historic preservation. In the book, she examines the original 1970s “one size fits all” design of the Earthship, addresses problems in the…

So with that in mind, here are some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....? There is evidence that natural occurrences can impact human behavior whether it is the full moon that fills up emergency rooms or sunspots that are said to impact the economy. Michael Mandeville wrote an interesting paper about the impact of sunspots on tumultuous times in our history.  He writes: A. L. Tchijevsky, a Russian professor of Astronomy and Biological Physics, noticed during World War I that particularly severe battles followed solar flares. Since the sunspots were in a peak period during 1916-17, no doubt the war and its various battles were heavily stimulated by the…

Often, current or recent circumstances begin to make a whole lot more sense when we look at what the planets are up to for us personally.Astrology helps connect us to the bigger picture, which is ALWAYS working for our benefit, no matter how things look from our viewpoint. And we can stop tensing against the future or fearing the unknown, once we get a perspective on it. Astrology is very helpful for doing this. If you have an issue or question about current circumstances that you would like to get my astrological perspective about, I will take a look at your chart and see how current…

  • Full Moon In Pisces, August 29th 2015

    Barbara
    28 Aug 2015 | 10:01 am
Moon message = "Help is at Hand".The moon in Pisces melts our hearts, increases compassion, dissolves boundaries, teaches us about unconditional love, and opens our spiritual and psychic senses. We have an enhanced appreciation for art and music, and our own creativity flows. We weep at the beauty of a sunset or the innocence of a child, or we just weep for connection.A full moon in Pisces intensifies all this, as a full moon concentrates and focuses energy. This moon also has Neptune nearby, which intensifies things further, because Neptune (God of the ocean) is Pisces watery ruler.A full…

    Demystifying the Aquarian Age

  • Is America Entering a New Victorian Era?

    Terry MacKinnell
    14 Aug 2015 | 5:02 pm
Journalists, historians, anthropologists and social commentators often observe historical cycles better than the average person including astrologers because they pay great attention to the unfolding of events.  This is certainly the case with the arrival of the Age of Aquarius in the 15th century – a century most prominent historians consider being the most important century of recent times for numerous reasons as well as being the demarcation century between Medievalism and Modernity.  The modern world has sprung out of the 15th century.  The claim that a new age began in the 20th…
  • This is the Dawning of the Aquarius Micro-Age Decan

    Terry MacKinnell
    11 Jul 2015 | 8:30 pm
No Baby Boomer, or anyone born later, has ever experienced a serious Aquarius sub-period of the Age of Aquarius.  When some Baby Boomers turned on, tuned in and dropped out in the 1960s and 70s they were not responding to the new Age of Aquarius, they were mainly responding to the 1970 peak of the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2148). The combination of revolutionary Scorpio and revolutionary Aquarius produced a major shakeup of mainly western culture and the ripples of this cultural shakeup are still strongly affecting society today.  The latest example is the recent…

In “On the Threshold of Aquarius” published on January 4, 2015 I provided an outline of the current the Aquarius micro-age decan (December 2014-December 2019) and its overflow the following five years with its most powerful time the Aquarius quasi micro-age decan (Jun 2016 – Jun 2022).  This will be the most potent period of Aquarius experienced by Baby Boomers and younger generations.  Many issues were discussed but the one I am commenting about here is where I stated: “Moses is also closely associated with Leo indicating a connection to Judaism and thus we can expect much conflict…
  • A Funny Thing Happened in the 21st Century – Part 2

    Terry MacKinnell
    12 Mar 2015 | 10:28 pm
The current 21st century from an astrological perspective is a ‘mild’ century.  In Part 1, an initial examination of the 21st century was made which proposed that the 21st century is not as dangerous compared to the 20th and 22nd centuries due primarily to the fact that both these centuries have a major sub-age cusp whereas the 21st century does not.  The primary influence in the 21st century is from the Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970-2148) and a basic examination of Scorpio archetypes was undertaken.  Sub-age cusps are not the only harbingers of disasters and difficulties, and…
  • Falling Crime Rate Surprises Everyone

    Terry MacKinnell
    17 Feb 2015 | 5:00 pm
Why did violent crime peak around 1991 in the USA, Canada and elsewhere then commence to significantly reduce?  In a New York Times article it was reported that the aggregation of all violent crime in the USA significantly peaked in 1991: Perhaps nowhere has the drop been more stunning than in New York City, which reported only 328 homicides for 2014, compared with 2,245 in 1990. There was not only a fall in serious crime, there was also declines in teenage pregnancy, child abuse and juvenile delinquency. [1] Coincidentally, I only discovered the most likely reason for the falling crime rate…

I am remiss in sharing new astrological data. Just picked up an addition to the Leo file. Turns out that the radical modernist composer Karlheinz Stockhausen (b. 22 Aug1928), one of the pioneers of electronica, was polygamous. Three other important, charismatic Leos were similarly all-embracing in their love lives. Carl Jung (26 July 1875), like Stockhausen center of a cultish circle, was famously shared by his wife and his pupil/colleague Toni Wolff, who was also said to  manage his harem of Jungfrauen. For the last 40 years of his life he was commonly accompanied by both women  at…

She had her personal near death experience, a traumatic near-drowning at age 12 which left her with aquaphobia. She played a literal femme fatale in the 2007 Sex and Death 101, a character named Death Nell who avenges women who have been sexually mistreated. In 1993 she deeply concerned herself in the kidnapping and death of a little girl named Polly Klaas, compelled to rehearse a Pluto/Persephone narrative.

According to the on-line Oxford English Dictionary a migrant is “A worker who moves from place to place to do seasonal work.” A refugee is “A person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster:” It’s a disgrace that the BBC and The Guardian are still calling the people pouring out of Syria and Iraq migrants. Words matter. These people are refugees. There’s a holocaust on Europe’s doorstep. We have seen this insanity before: in Rwanda, in Congo, in Cambodia, in Germany. The behaviour of ISIS or…

Jupiter in Virgo — August 11, 2015 – 9 September 2016 The 12-year cycle of Jupiter is one of the most important to understand and work with in your own life. So right now, it’s worth looking back at the last time Jupiter was in Virgo –  from 27 August 2003 to 25 September 2004 – and racking your brain to remember what happened during that period. But that will only give you part of the story. You are 12 years older for a start, and your life will be in an entirely different phase. Not only that, Jupiter makes different aspects to the other planets each time he visits…

But this change in perspective can be soul-awakening on a personal level. Jupiter in Virgo is  Zen. It’s about diving right into everyday minutiae, and instead of seeing it as boring and trivial, understanding that getting the porridge absolutely perfect is actually another route to the divine. • Pisces Full Moon: Faith, Reason, and the Truth

    April
    27 Aug 2015 | 6:23 am
Each Full Moon presents us with an apparent dichotomy between the sign occupied by the Sun, and the opposite sign, occupied by the Moon. When we take a closer look, we realize that while these two archetypes may approach a situation from opposite directions, they’re at least moving toward a common center. The dichotomy at the heart of this Full Moon pits faith (Moon/Neptune in Pisces) against reason (Sun/Jupiter in Virgo). Is “I don’t know—I just like him/her” a valid reason to support for someone who is running for public office? Is “I’m so in love!” a…

When Jupiter moved into the sign of the lion last year, my astro-savvy pals congratulated me as though I’d been nominated for an Academy Award. I have to admit, I felt pretty excited. But despite its reputation as astrology’s most generous benefactor, Jupiter’s gifts are often best enjoyed in hindsight. While Jupiter is moving through a sign, a house, or in aspect to one of your natal planets, you can actually feel quite a lot of pressure—to live bigger, to be more daring, and to challenge your…

Up to now, I wasn’t quite sure what I thought about Venus’ current retrograde period. But the chart for this New Moon (Aug. 14, 10:53 am Eastern Time) features the Sun and Moon in a close conjunction with Venus, so perhaps it’s time to tell that particular story. In astrological Venus, we find the symbol of style, beauty, pleasure, value, and keeping up with the Joneses. We also find the very human susceptibility to being told what we should enjoy. There are entire industries that rely upon this tendency, and they are part of a world that is all too happy to tell us, every day and…

A friend sent me a stunning photograph from her boyfriend’s summertime expedition in the northernmost reaches of the Pacific—floating on a ship amidst a sea of ice floes “as thick as I am tall,” he wrote, for endless summer days that never turn into night that far north. Viewing it from San Diego, where delayed summer has given way to warm, sticky, exhaustion, I found it a singularly restful image. In North American July, nothing feels quite as good as an air-conditioned room, tastes as delicious as an icy drink, or looks as inviting as a polar landscape. It’s the season of the…

  • Jupiter in Virgo 2015-2016

Jupiter entered Virgo on August 11th, 2015 and will remain in that sign until September 9, 2016.  Because Jupiter’s orbital period is about 12 years, it spends about a year in each sign. Jupiter, in his role as King of the Gods, inspires us to higher aspirations – to be bigger and better than we ever thought we could be.  Jupiter bestows confidence and the kind of faith that tends to bring good things our way – but it also can create an overblown sense of entitlement and grandiosity.  Jupiter is also connected to the search for meaning that separates humans from other…

© 2015 by Joyce MasonWe all know the expression, food for thought. This feature is more like a snack. It’s a prompt for thinking about some astrological idea and how it works for you. If you’ve studied astrology for any length of time, you know that every planetary energy—planet, sign or aspect—has an expression along a continuum. Most of us tend to think of the road as one from negative to positive expression, according to our cultural context—but being as nonjudgmental as possible, it really boils down to which qualities of, say, the planets and signs are likely to bring us…

I’d love to have your feedback in the Comments! Here’s the first Munchie:If you had a t-shirt and could print only one word on it, what would that word be? And where does that word “come from” in your chart?Using myself as an example that won’t be a surprise to some of my regular readers (I’ve said it before), my word would be Gutsy. Where that comes from in my chart is Mars trine Jupiter. See The Astrology of Fear…

How do you properly use a progressed chart? Do you look at simply the planets and how they move into a new sign and house, or do you look at every intricacy. For instance, I have progressed Saturn squaring my progressed sun and my progressed mars. Is this looking too deeply into the progressed chart?

Ponder for a moment on the following idea: “We don’t age, we grow.” If you feel challenged by this idea, it contains in itself the paradox of Jupiter’s journey through Virgo between August 12th and September 9th, 2016. Jupiter will show us how to face the future with the idea of growth, while Virgo can provide the tools, in the ways which will include service and deeper understanding of what connects us to the natural world. This week we are looking at one of the most amazing natural healing Essential Oil companies from Switzerland called Just. Their 31 Herbs Oil is a miraculous cure.

    ohioastrology
    16 Aug 2015 | 9:19 am
ohioastrology:Jupiter is now in Virgo. Since writing this blog, the Supreme Court gave the green light for same-sex marriage. That’s a Jupiter-in-Leo love story I didn’t imagine. Originally posted on Ohio Astrology: Recently I reflected on Jupiter’s current transit of fire-sign Leo, a transit that will end in August when Jupiter moves into Virgo. I wasn’t sure I saw the “Leo” of this transit. Of course, Jupiter must play with the other planets which can alter the pure effect of its energy. But then I saw this news article noting that the US birth rate rose in 2014, the…

Republican Presidential Candidate Jim Gilmore entered the race so late (July 30) that this political blogger planned to ignore him. Next time there’s a presidential election cycle, Mr. Gilmore, can you please show up on time? But then . . . through unrelated research on incarcerated terrorist Carlos the Jackal, I noticed the birthday looked quite familiar. Carlos the Jackal was born six days after Gilmore. Suggesting a Venezuelan terrorist and US politician have personality traits in common is where you can lose a lot of folks on astrology. Yet this is where it is most fascinating and…

When I told my tuxedo cat that Ohio Governor John Kasich was running for President, she asked if Ohio Astrology (OHA) was endorsing him. “Why would we do that?” I asked. She gave me a look I can only describe as dumbfounded, in that I was dumb. Finally, in the patient voice you use with a small child, she explained that we are from Ohio and Kasich is from Ohio so naturally we would endorse him. I responded that contrary to common human behavior, we didn’t have to endorse Kasich simply because the accident of his birth and the accident of our births landed us in a defined…

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. ― Ralph Waldo Emerson A couple years ago after having a rather heated discussion with a colleague, I developed a new, personal definition of marketing. The colleague and I were discussing the results of a marketing campaign. The results were counter-intuitive and he simply did not believe them. Yet the campaign was set up correctly for a scientifically accurate result. Our point of contention was marketing itself – what do we expect when we send marketing to people? My own…

Six of Staves Today is a day of rewards and validation. It’s a day of being recognized for all that you’ve accomplished on the job or in your personal relationships. You may have been putting a lot of effort into your work and not even realizing that others have taken notice. Or you could be unexpectedly pulled aside by a loved one, just to tell you how much you’re valued. Two of Cups With Mars and Venus coming together today in Leo, the emphasis is on the romantic, creative and expressive aspects of falling in Love. But as these two planets are moving in opposite directions — Mars moving forward and Venus moving backwards (retrograde) it reminds you that in order to do so you must first learn to love yourself. This version of the Two of Cups — from the stunning Ceccoli Tarot — illustrates this concept beautifully, with the two figures (identical twins) as exact mirror images of one another. Whether you’re in a relationship or just looking,…

Playing Casino Blackjack with Astrology involves learning to identify “windows of opportunity” within your astrology chart by looking at the transits in relation to your natal chart.  What I mean by this is that you will need to find a date and actual time span where the planets will line up in your favor to help you win! The formula I use for gambling using “windows of opportunity” are looking at the planet that rules your natal 5th house cusp (house of speculation).  After that prepare a transit chart for the date, time and place you are looking to gamble –…

Big Brown – Haskell Invitational Monmouth Park NJ I love to have fun and one of the many things that I like to do is gamble!  Gosh to think you could actually increase your odds of winning by using astrology as a tool!  I first stumbled upon using this method of astrology to place bets on horses in a book I read about 15 years ago called “A Time for Astrology” by Jess Stearn.  What a great book!  I loved this book so much that I read it about 3 times.  There was one part in the book about a man named Llewellyn George who mapped horse races with success.  Of course I…
