This week’s forecast may not be much to write home about, but you’ve got to admit conditions are a lot less lousy than they were the last couple of weeks. Mars is still in Cancer, and still a bit problematic, but it isn’t nipping at the heels of Uranus and Pluto like it was not long ago. So, first order of business for this week? Breathe deep, relax, and be grateful. Most of this week’s serious astrological action is focused on the end of the week. Opportunities and obstacles are at loggerheads with each other as the Jupiter-Saturn square approaches the exact degree,…

Sometimes giving up a small success give us greater calm and perspective. So goes the thinking in the “mindfulness movement” as it impacts the legal profession. At the University of Miami School of Law, students are asked to deliberately lose an argument for homework. Scott Rogers, a professor at the University of Miami “says looser vibes have touched a nerve with younger generations turned off by the perceived nastiness of the profession.” “It’s not about losing a fight or giving up at all,” says Scott, who directs the university’s Mindfulness in Law Program. “It’s…

First of all, congratulations on surviving the relatively lousy transits of the last couple of weeks. This week should be easier to deal with, but beware of a couple of potentially unpleasant surprises lurking in the background. Let’s get the most difficult news out of the way first: Mars square Uranus may not be exact until Saturday, but that energy will hang over most of the week. In part that’s because Uranus is slowing down and preparing to go retrograde on Sunday, and in part because Mars in Cancer is just so hard to work with. Whenever Mars square Uranus happens, there is a…

Let's see how they turned out.The first forecast pinpointed the southern tip of Baja, California as a place ripe for tropical storm or hurricane activity at this time. Scott Rogers, a professor at the University of Miami “says looser vibes have touched a nerve with younger generations turned off by the perceived nastiness of the profession.” “It’s not about losing a fight or giving up at all,” says Scott, who directs the university’s Mindfulness in Law Program. “It’s…

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes. So with that in mind, here are some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....? I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth. Here are the lucky numbers for the week of July…

  • Spacecraft Drives by Pluto, while Pluto opposes Mars, July 2015

    Barbara
    13 Jul 2015 | 9:46 am
On January 19th 2006 a spacecraft began travelling to Pluto for the first time, to take a closer look at it for us. On July 14th 2015 that spacecraft reaches its closest contact with the planet. Read all about the details and background here. And unsurprisingly to astrologers, Pluto is at the centre of the astrological action this week, with Mars and Pluto meeting for an opposition aspect the day after this historic mission completes (opposition means they are in opposite zodiac signs, Mars in Cancer and Pluto in Capricorn).Whenever Pluto is a highlight of the astrological skies it means…

Here are this month's horoscopes (better late than never!) hope you enjoy. Happy July to you :)Aries21st March – 20th AprilEarly July it feels so easy to be inspired to the right direction and just go with the flow, but then it might feel you’re losing your magic touch, especially midmonth, and during a nostalgic new moon in your home and family chart on the 16th. That’s the time a particularly stubborn planet pattern…

June 2015 is a very beautiful month in astrology, enjoy :) Aries21st March – 20th AprilProsperity planet Jupiter meets unconventional planet Uranus this month. This has special significance for Aries, indicating brilliant opportunities that come out of the blue, or in ways you weren’t expecting. This lasts all month but is especially dynamic on 2nd, 8th, 22nd and 26th. These are times when creative power shines bright and brilliant, and matters of the heart really matter (especially 26th!) while fun feels fabulous. This is also an amazing month for communication: first half of June…

Your ruler Mars moves into your communication zone from the 12th and Mercury retrogrades (appears to move backwards) from the 19th, so there’s plenty of activity, debate and discussion which might make you revise plans or review your priorities (especially 27th). Demystifying the Aquarian Age

  • This is the Dawning of the Aquarius Micro-Age Decan

    Terry MacKinnell
    11 Jul 2015 | 8:30 pm
No Baby Boomer, or anyone born later, has ever experienced a serious Aquarius sub-period of the Age of Aquarius.  When some Baby Boomers turned on, tuned in and dropped out in the 1960s and 70s they were not responding to the new Age of Aquarius, they were mainly responding to the 1970 peak of the Scorpio sub-age and overflow (1791 – 1970 – 2148). The combination of revolutionary Scorpio and revolutionary Aquarius produced a major shakeup of mainly western culture and the ripples of this cultural shakeup are still strongly affecting society today.  The latest example is the recent…

    12 Mar 2015 | 10:28 pm
The current 21st century from an astrological perspective is a ‘mild’ century.  In Part 1, an initial examination of the 21st century was made which proposed that the 21st century is not as dangerous compared to the 20th and 22nd centuries due primarily to the fact that both these centuries have a major sub-age cusp whereas the 21st century does not.  The primary influence in the 21st century is from the Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970-2148) and a basic examination of Scorpio archetypes was undertaken.  Sub-age cusps are not the only harbingers of disasters and difficulties, and…

    17 Feb 2015 | 5:00 pm
Why did violent crime peak around 1991 in the USA, Canada and elsewhere then commence to significantly reduce?  In a New York Times article it was reported that the aggregation of all violent crime in the USA significantly peaked in 1991: Perhaps nowhere has the drop been more stunning than in New York City, which reported only 328 homicides for 2014, compared with 2,245 in 1990. There was not only a fall in serious crime, there was also declines in teenage pregnancy, child abuse and juvenile delinquency. [1] Coincidentally, I only discovered the most likely reason for the falling crime rate…

    3 Jan 2015 | 4:45 pm
If you have been following this blog you may be slightly confused by a statement suggesting that we are on the threshold of Aquarius when the Aquarian age arrived many centuries ago.  However since the arrival of the Aquarian age in 1433 AD, no period stronger than a 15 year Aquarius micro-age[1] has been encountered.  The last Aquarius micro-age was 1910-1925 with its overflow extending until 1940, and its momentum extending until 1945.  Therefore anyone born after the 2nd World War, which includes all Baby Boomers, has never encountered, nor experienced, a serious period of Aquarius. …

  • Obama In Africa

    Christina
    25 Jul 2015 | 10:42 am
Just a quick note here, but sometimes you just couldn’t make the astrology up: it’s so simple. US President Barack Obama is visiting Kenya the birthplace of his father for the first time in his presidency. The astrology? Saturn, the planet associated with the father (along with the Sun) is on the president’s Midheaven at 28° Scorpio. Obama is honouring his dead father. He is also stepping into his father’s shoes in some sense. This visit is not just some courtesy call, but an acceptance of his African legacy and of a deep responsibility. This Saturn is at the highest…

Angelo Bronzino — Allegory of Lust – detail The mistress of love and harmony, Venus herself, is usually pictured reclining, either ready for love or just finished.  The power of the goddess subsumed into the erotic fantasies of generations of artists and patrons. The goddess of love diminished into an object of desire. Her astrological meaning is, of course, much more complex, powerful and multifarious. But it’s hard to blot out the popular image of her as a fleshy toy in the periphery of our vision, and of course, sex is part of her story, maybe especially when she’s…

In the USA, this book is called The Discovery of Middle Earth: Mapping the Lost World of the Celts. The Heraklean Way, one of the most ancient routes in Europe, runs from the Sacred Promontory on the Atlantic coast of Portugal to the Matrona Pass in the Alps. It’s both a real road – you can still drive along parts of it today – and a mythical one, for it is said that the hero Heracles himself created it as he strode across the continent. Its origins truly are lost in the mists of time, but it dates from at least the 5th century BC, well before the Romans had started their…

The images bring the planet so close, show the importance of his henchman Charon, the dark planet’s “heart”, and his handsome craggy features. The astrology? Well, this mid-month we’ve been having a pretty tough opposition from Mars-Mercury to Pluto. On the day of the closest approach, July 14, the dynamic duo were sandwiched between the Sun and the Moon, all in watery and imaginative Cancer. Now Cancer is…

Usually, aspects between planets occur when they are in particular signs of the zodiac. Squares to your Saturn in Aries, for instance, will usually involve planets in Cancer or Capricorn. Download this cheat sheet for quick reference! However, sometimes planets can be in aspect to each other even when they are in the “wrong” signs. It has to do with aspect orbs, the amount of “wiggle room” you allow between two planets that are close to, but not quite in exact aspect to each other. For instance, say the Moon in your birth chart is at 28 degrees Aquarius, and Mars is at…

Most modern astrologers make some use of secondary progressions. What are they? How are they useful? Should you use them? Secondary progressions are a theoretical way of moving your birth chart forward to reflect your growth, maturity, and yes, progress. Here’s why they’re useful and you should use them. Working with transits is great. Transits are more external in nature than progressions; they describe events outside you, some of which have a very dramatic impact on the course of your life. But how you react to and are affected by a transit is more likely to be seen in the…

Photo manipulation by Amin Sedig from Moonipulations Today’s Full Moon in Capricorn is a big and powerful one, amplified by both Mars and Pluto which are moving into a dance of opposition which will culminate on the 15th of July. The Capricorn Full Moon brings our focus to the material world and encourages us to apply discipline and structure to our lives so that we can create something of meaning – something that will last beyond our small and mortal life.  The Moon is opposed by the Sun in Cancer, so we find ourselves dancing in the polarity between Cancer and Capricorn.  On…

Rachel Dolezal, a woman who was just outed by her own parents for posing as a black person for years but is actually white, is the type of case that send me right to the astrological chart to try to find an explanation of such bizarre behavior. Unfortunately without a birth time we can’t identify the ascendant, the sign on the horizon at the time she was born, which would provide more details about her relationship to her personal identity which is what this case is all about.  The rest of the chart is interesting  – three planets in Scorpio and three planets in Sagittarius…

“Phoenix of the Heart” by Kim Dreyer Some of you may be wondering where I have been, and in fact I have wondered that myself.  I am in the middle of a Very Big Uranus Transit in which the planet of rebellion and the destroyer of all that is rigid and feels like obligation is sitting right on an important system in my chart.  (Geeky astrological details: I have a triple conjunction in Libra of Saturn, Sun and Neptune which is squared by Uranus in Cancer.)   The Uranus cycle tends to be associated with major changes in a person’s life.  The first one, the square (90…

I celebrated my Secondary Progressed Moon moving into Sagittarius (and conjoining my Natal South Node on the 7thHouse cusp) with an adventure holiday in Borneo. What a wild ride! I’m a cautious Capricorn but found myself challenged by all sorts of daring activities I never thought I would have the guts to do. The air is full of mayfly, flying upstream to lay their eggsTrekking uphill on narrow slippery paths through wild jungles full of angry fire ants, hungry leeches and (bonus) truly wild orangutan; wading up to my chest through rivers fully clothed; cooling off in waterfalls…

So my beloved and I have just enjoyed our seventh wedding anniversary. To celebrate, we went to see one of our favourite bands and the occasion was marked with a couple of intriguing coincidences. My husband discovered that a couple of his friends - a couple - were attending the gig so we arranged to meet for a drink beforehand and as soon as they walked through the door I realised I hadn’t seen one of them since our wedding. Then, when we arrived at the venue, I spotted a guy at the back of the room on his own looking a bit out of place. I looked and then I looked again. It was who I…

We all know the expression, food for thought. This new feature is more like a snack. It’s a prompt for thinking about some astrological idea and how it works for you. I’d love to have your feedback in the Comments! Here’s the first Munchie:If you had a t-shirt and could print only one word on it, what would that word be? And where does that word “come from” in your chart?Using myself as an example that won’t be a surprise to some of my regular readers (I’ve said it before), my word would be Gutsy. Where that comes from in my chart is Mars trine Jupiter. See The Astrology of Fear…

New Musings and Old Posts on the US and Independence Day and the Dilemma of Cancer/AquariusArticle © 2015 by Joyce MasonI couldn’t suppress my urge to write about topics related to Independence Day, the US 4thof July. I’m not a flag waver by nature because I feel the flag I’d rather wave is a big question mark. By that I mean something akin to the sentiment that was on a bumper sticker on the cars of many Unitarians when I frequented that church in the 1980s. It said, “To question is the answer.” I believe those who really love their country don’t take what happens on blind faith…

Article © 2015 by Joyce MasonI had a profound insight in the past year about how fearful I am. I hadn’t realized the degree and frequency of my fears. I’ve just learned to live with them. They are my “normal.” I am afraid often about a lot of things. While not fearful to the level of paranoia or even chronic negativity, it is still exhausting to deal with anxiety and worries on an ongoing basis. I’d rather not.If I could have only one t-shirt that says it all about me, it would have a single word on it—Gutsy. Courage isn’t an absence of fear. Courage is being afraid and…

    5 Jul 2015 | 3:21 am
Do you feel like an outcast, a misfit? An alien from another planet, an orphan in your family?  These are all very Aquarian in nature, but what ensues is not feeling part of a work team or family unit. This lack of a sense of belonging is related to the sign of Cancer. One common denominator I've noticed with Cancer strong in the chart (eg. Sun/Ascendant/stellium in Cancer) is the theme of belonging. For example, the native has no trust in the homeland and is seeking refuge elsewhere (Cancer is one's roots, including birth country), or s/he has no affinity within one's own family unit…

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. ― Ralph Waldo Emerson A couple years ago after having a rather heated discussion with a colleague, I developed a new, personal definition of marketing. The colleague and I were discussing the results of a marketing campaign. The results were counter-intuitive and he simply did not believe them. Yet the campaign was set up correctly for a scientifically accurate result. Our point of contention was marketing itself – what do we expect when we send marketing to people? My own…

Astrology like a lot of news focuses on the rich, powerful and famous simply because they are on the collective screen playing out their dramas. I can tell you about my chart and my experiences, but that doesn’t mean anything to you because you can’t see me and I’ve done nothing to warrant your attention. Recently I reflected on Jupiter’s current transit of fire-sign Leo, a transit that will end in August when Jupiter moves into Virgo. I wasn’t sure I saw the “Leo” of this transit. Of course, Jupiter must play with the other planets which can alter the pure effect of its energy. But then I saw this news article noting that the US birth rate rose in 2014, the first time since 2007. Leo and the 5th house of the horoscope rule children. Go, Leo, go. Leo also rules love and romance, something a wee bit difficult to quantify. How many people fell in love in the last year?

It is never prudent to think you are certain about how things are set to work out. When the mind is too sure, then it will not accept input. And at those times it is the task of the Great Universal Teacher to set the course right. You feel on an upswing as you have been successful with connecting the dots as of lately. But, the picture can change at any moment leaving your imaginary dots as just random points with no connection. Don’t become engrossed or over-confident today. Allow yourself regular pauses for perspective!

Your mind is sharp today! You are able to see the potential window of opportunity and you have the awareness with which to take advantage of it. The deeper you look, the clearer the picture becomes. The recent challenge that you have been through has widened your scope of vision and stands you poised for a breakthrough. Passion today meets perspicacity, and with the appropriate effort, much can be accomplished! Luckily for you, strength is abundant!

LOVE, MONEY, BEAUTY, CAR, MARRIAGE and retrograde Venus No matter who you are (please do not include saints and seers in this!), I am very convinced, you may desire good looks, love, money and comforts in life, whether it's a gadget you're coveting, a car you want to buy, or a brand you feel you desire to wear, going to beauty salon for pampering, we all have a bit of a materialistic side, we all do it to some extent, even if we don't go overboard. Materialism is one of those ugly words that gets thrown around a lot and it sounds horrible, being categorized as materialistic person, with…

With Saturn in Scorpio and Jupiter in Cancer, the planets were in perfect harmony. But from 14th July 2015, planet Jupiter will shift to next sign (Leo). As per Vedic astrology, Jupiter is generally considered to be the most benefic planet of the planetary kingdom. This planetary shift will affect politicians the most. The heads of states, senior bureaucrats, Ministers of states, Presidents and governors, law enforcing authorities and those who are placed at top positions will feel this shift.Judiciary, Judges and Supreme court from now onwards may corner those who are at fault.

CAPRICORN:Planet Saturn rules over your sign. Astrologically July heralds a period of change as Jupiter, the planet of divine help and good luck, will shift to next sign on 14thJuly. In next one year, matters related to capital venture, loans, inheritance, joint income or business, shared wealth or property, business partnership, rental incomes, and investments, debts, taxes, and joint finances may have to be resolved in this one year period. • Working with your Moon sign: unconscious habit patterns

    Insight Astrology
    25 Jul 2015 | 2:51 am
The post Working with your Moon sign: unconscious habit patterns appeared first on - We tend to romanticise the Moon and it’s easy to understand why: she’s the saviour of lost travelers, a beacon in the dark and wondrously beautiful to boot. But she also has her dark side: in esoteric tradition she’s associated with illusion, madness and hysteria. Understanding your Moon sign can help you avoid being led astray by her. In astrology the Moon sign tells us how we respond or react to life. It is the ruler of our emotions and the part of us that has been formed by our…

The post Retrograde Saturn in Scorpio: time to reclaim your power appeared first on - On 16th June Saturn retrograded back into Scorpio where he will stay until 17th September, giving us a brief opportunity to revisit some of the issues that arose during Saturn’s three year stay in the sign of depth, darkness, sexuality and power. Saturn in Scorpio is a time to reclaim any power we have given away to others and withdraw our control over people and things we have no business controlling. Working with the energy of Saturn in Scorpio Do you recognise yourself in any of the following…

The post Saturn retrograde in Scorpio: plumbing the depths appeared first on - Saturn retrograde in Scorpio – ouch! This isn’t a combination many people look forward to. Saturn gives us a great big dose of reality and when we fail to accept this reality we usually experience very unpleasant emotions. In Scorpio, Saturn pushes us to look at the realities of power in our relationships, our jealousies, resentments and fears of loss or betrayal. With Saturn retrograde in Scorpio this is a last chance to look at these issues head on and make any necessary adjustments to our lives or…
  • Venus retrograde in Leo: time to reflect on relationships

The post Venus retrograde in Leo: time to reflect on relationships appeared first on - During the Venus retrograde we have an opportunity to reflect on our relationships. On 25 July Venus stations retrograde at 0 degrees Virgo, reentering Leo on 31 July, and remaining in retrograde motion until 8 September. Retrograde motion occurs when a planet appears to move backwards in the sky. Venus retrogrades for about 40 days every eighteen months or so. We can expect this Venus retrograde period to be a focal point for the energetic work that needs to take place in our relationships. Whether this…

The post Full Moon in Capricorn: take responsibility for your emotions appeared first on - This Thursday 2 July the Full Moon in Capricorn will rise in the sky, bringing us both challenge and bounty. An exact conjunction between Venus Jupiter that both trines Uranus and sextile Mercury will place a strong emphasis on relationships. Communication will likely be enhanced and openness and honesty may be easier. This is a lovely generous and open-minded energy which can help us find solutions to even the most stuck relationship patterns. However a wide conjunction to Pluto ensures the…
